Located on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico and just 50 miles from historic New Orleans, Buccaneer State Park is a year-round vacation spot rich in coastal beauty and recreational opportunities. The area now encompassed by the park was frequented by pirates in the 1700s, and figures prominently in mysterious tales of smuggling and buried treasure. Today Buccaneer State Park is best known for its exciting wave pool, which provides a safe yet exciting setting for summer rafting and body surfing, and as a winter retreat where the mild temperatures allow outdoor recreation year-round.

June 1 Be Aware by Wanda Bagley
Husband and I booked 10 days in Buccaneer and are leaving 5 days early, losing half of what we paid. When I made the reservation, I was very specific asking if they had a pool. Telling them we wanted to make sure because being seniors we would not be going to the beach. I was told they had a water park for which we would have to pay extra, I told them we would not be able to physically do that, then they told me there was a separate pool for others. They DID NOT tell me that pool was only 2 1/2 feet deep and you had to pay $6.00 per day to go in it. In 5 days we have seen everything in New Orleans and Biloxi and there is nothing to see in this immediate area. We expected to be able to enjoy the pool....not paying to step in an just get wet.
May 10 Will Return Soon by SandScampers
Park and its employees are nice. The facilities are clean, and kids loved the water park. The view of the gulf is awesome. Also have some very good local restaurants in the area.
November 10 first timer by Knot a happy camper
Visited park on 11/8/14 and was very impressed with Treasure Cove, lots of trees and vegetation to provide some isolation. All other areas had very few trees with no vegetation- reminded me of KOA which is like a camper parking lot. But during the night the noise from train traffic less that 500 feet away was a rude awakening, it sounded like the trains were going to join me in the camper it was so loud-impossible to sleep as 5 trains passed during the night, the last at 2:50 AM. In the morning I showered with the fragrant aroma of egg water, that was it I left without staying the second already paid for night and never to return. Wish the park personnel would inform first timers of these conditions at check in.
